Man who kidnapped Ithaca woman killed in Virginia shootout faces new charges

Virginia State Police have filed new charges against 34-year-old Michael Davis, who allegedly kidnapped an Ithaca woman earlier this month. Davis now faces charges of attempted capital murder of a police officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and eluding police.

Davis is accused of abducting Tatiana David, the mother of his child, from Ithaca on April 5. Later that night, he evaded Virginia Police when they tried to stop his vehicle. After crashing his Jeep, Davis engaged in a shootout with the police before being apprehended and taken to a Virginia hospital.

Upon his arrest, police discovered David deceased, though the cause of her death remains unknown. The additional charges against Davis were filed this week following his release from the hospital.
