The New York Mets (10-6) edged the Oakland Athletics (3-13), 4-3, in 10 innings on Sunday evening to complete a three-game sweep.

New York was trailing entering the ninth inning when Pete Alonso crushed his seventh home run of the season to tie the game and force extras.

In the tenth inning, Eduardo Escobar scored on a wild pitch, and that was the difference in the game.

Earlier in the contest, Tommy Pham smacked his second homer while Francisco Lindor belted his fourth.

Jose Butto, who was called up from Triple-A Syracuse to make a spot start, fired five innings of one-run ball while walking four and striking out two.

The Mets will continue their 10-game road trip on Monday night in Los Angeles when they take on the Dodgers. The first pitch is slated for 10:10 p.m.
