Canandaigua woman embezzled over $2.1M through employer’s payroll while working as VP at Rochester business

State police say a Canandaigua woman embezzled more than $2 million from her employer in Rochester.

Sarah Fantauzzi, 50, of Canandaigua was charged with first-degree grand larceny after stealing $2.17 million from her employer.

Fantauzzi served as executive vice president of human resources at R.E.S. Exhibit Services. The investigation began in December 2019 and voluntarily resigning from R.E.S.

The company is said to have found her income to be significantly higher than it should have been while filing taxes for that year.

The allegations date all the way back to 2012 when Fantauzzi was hired as VP of human resources. Investigators say she received five checks totaling over $12,000 each through unapproved travel reimbursements. She’s also accused of manipulating the company’s payroll system, so she received two paychecks per pay period.

This allegedly took place from January 2013 through June 2019.

Fantauzzi was transported to the Monroe County Jail to be arraigned.
