They start with the Yankees, where top prospect Anthony Volpe will begin the year with the big-league club. The guys talk about the decision which will see Volpe be the Opening Day shortstop. On the other end of the decision, Oswald Peraza will start in AAA. Carlos Rodon continues to make progress including throwing a successful 30-pitch bullpen session. Paul and Kyle discuss the timeline of the recovery for Rodon who appears to be ahead of schedule to returning to the Yankee rotation.
The Mets have made their final round of cuts for the roster, which sees Darin Ruf getting designated for assignment. The guys talk about the failed time in New York for Ruf and discuss the impact Tim Locastro will have on the roster as he made it over Ruf. The Mets have also announced their starting rotation for the first week of the season. Max Scherzer will get the nod for Opening Day. Paul and Kyle talk the structure of the five-man rotation and what the build says the Mets are looking for.
Wrapping up the podcast, Paul and Kyle look at the ever-changing rosters already for Rochester and Syracuse. Prospects are on their way to the Red Wings and S-Mets.
