One of Leonard’s Express’ longtime employees has received new recognition.
Katie Griffin, who serves as the company’s director of fleet safety, was named a Top Woman to Watch in Transportation by the Women in Trucking Association.
“As part of WIT’s mission to recognize the achievements of individuals, for the past six years our official magazine Redefining the Road has used this recognition program to acknowledge the accomplishments of impressive female professionals who work in our industry,” said WIT President and CEO Jennifer Hedrick. “Countless women in transportation are making significant strides in their careers while having a positive impact on their company’s success.”
Griffin has worked at Leonard’s Express for more than 20 years to create a culture of safety and inclusivity. She is a member of the company’s women in trucking committee and a winner of the Pat Johnson Award, an annual recognition program created by Leonard’s Express to honor extraordinary women who demonstrate the qualities of leadership, selflessness, and integrity. Under Griffin’s leadership, Leonard’s Express won the Trucking Association of New York’s 2021 Fleet Safety Award Grand Trophy. The company also improved its year-over-year safety rating, reducing its CSA scores by 18% and minor incidents by more than 40%.
“Katie is an outstanding role model and mentor for women at Leonard’s and across the industry,” said Leonard’s Express CEO Ken Johnson. “We are proud to have such a dedicated leader who goes the extra mile to support other women and improve diversity, equity and inclusion on our team.”
