A Schuyler County man has been arrested for allegedly stealing property, including guns, from a home on Mallory Hill Road in the town of Veteran. Sheriff’s deputies received a call about a suspicious vehicle on March 9th, which led them to the discovery of the stolen guns and other property.
Further investigation by members of the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office led them to the home of 26-year-old Shawn Mitstifer on East Sullivanville Road in Horseheads, where a search warrant was executed. During the search, several guns, as well as jewelry and cash, were recovered.
Mitstifer, a resident of Cayuta, was arrested for burglary as a result of the investigation and search warrant. He was arraigned and taken to the Chemung County Jail.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward.
