John Nabinger, an experienced attorney and former Seneca County Assistant District Attorney, has announced his campaign for Seneca County District Attorney in the 2023 local election. Nabinger, who has been serving as a Seneca County Public Defender for the past 15 years, is running as a Republican with the endorsement of both the Seneca County Republican Committee and Seneca County Conservative Party.
“I’m running for Seneca County District Attorney to bring my 25 years of experience to serve the community we all love,” said Nabinger. “Having served as a prosecutor and public defender, I have the balanced perspective, experience, and qualifications to keep our community safer as your new District Attorney.”
Throughout his career, Nabinger has handled more than 2000 cases, including more than 1000 felonies, in State, County, and Municipal courtrooms across Upstate New York. In 1998, fresh out of law school, he began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Seneca County. He later served as an Assistant District Attorney in Onondaga County for several years, where he handled various areas of prosecution, presented to the Grand Jury, and handled felony cases including homicides.
For the past 20 years, Nabinger has worked as a Seneca County Public Defender, providing the Constitutionally guaranteed right to a defense for those accused of crimes. He has been working every day in the Seneca County Court system, gaining valuable experience and insight that he believes will enable him to serve the community better as the new District Attorney.
Nabinger and a team of volunteers are currently circulating petitions to place his name on the Republican and Conservative ballot lines in the November election.
“The Seneca County Republican Committee has enthusiastically endorsed John Nabinger for D.A. because he has the experience and balanced perspective needed for the position,” said Seneca County Republican Chairman and former Sheriff Tom Fox. “He also will be a strong voice speaking out against bad policies like Defunding the Police and Bail Reform.”
Seneca County Conservative Chairman William White also expressed his support for Nabinger. “John Nabinger is an experienced attorney who knows the law – and has a strong understanding of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. We’re proud to stand behind John and help elect him as our new District Attorney,” White added.
Nabinger, who is 56 years old and lives in Romulus, is a graduate of the Syracuse University College of Law, SUNY Brockport, and Onondaga Community College. He believes that his experience, qualifications, and balanced perspective make him the best candidate for Seneca County District Attorney, and he looks forward to serving the community if elected.
