The average price for a gallon of gas in Syracuse is $3.43, according to AAA. The price is down by a cent from last week. However, the national average for a gallon of gasoline is $3.41, up 4 cents since last Monday. While the New York State average is $3.43, it is down 2 cents from last Monday.
AAA Western and Central New York reported the following averages: Batavia is at $3.34, Buffalo at $3.36, Elmira at $3.38, Ithaca at $3.46, Rochester at $3.42, Rome at $3.48, Syracuse at $3.43, and Watertown at $3.44. All of these prices have gone down by either 1 or 2 cents from last Monday.
The prices of gasoline have been affected by the beginning of the switch to the summer blend of fuel, which is more expensive to refine. There has also been an increase in demand, and oil prices have risen as well. This morning, oil prices ranged from $79 to $86 per barrel.
On the other hand, diesel prices are decreasing. The national average price for a gallon of diesel is $4.38, which is down by 3 cents from a week ago. In New York, the current average for diesel is $5.00, down by 5 cents from last week.
