State police: One charged with felony assault after stabbing at motel

State police have made an arrest after a stabbing at a Syracuse-area motel.

A woman was found with stab wounds and a head injury in a hotel room in the town of Salina. The incident took place at the Candlewood Suites located at 5414 South Bay Road on March 2nd at 12:27 a.m.


State Police were immediately alerted of the stabbing and arrived at the scene to find a 32-year-old woman with non-life-threatening injuries. The woman had sustained stab wounds to her back and a cut to her head. She was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for medical attention.

Upon investigation, authorities discovered that the victim had been involved in a domestic altercation with her husband, leading to the stabbing. The suspect has been identified as Daniel S. Wagner, 28, who has been taken into custody by Troopers.


Wagner has been charged with second-degree assault, which is a class “D” felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, which is a class “A” misdemeanor.

He is currently awaiting arraignment at the Onondaga County Justice Center.
