The Fishers Fire Department has provided an update on the multi-vehicle accident that shut down part of the New York State Thruway near Exit 45 in Victor.
The Fishers Fire District responded to the New York State Thruway Saturday night for the report of a jack-knifed tractor trailer, with three other tractor trailers, and three other vehicles. Further updates from dispatch included multiple occupants in different vehicles that were trapped, as well as critical patients.
Crews arrived on scene and immediately began extrication. One of the vehicles struck the side of a tractor trailer, which resulted in significant damage and entrapment to the driver and an infant. Crews worked quickly to free the patients, and turned them over to EMS for transport.
Several other occupants of multiple vehicles and tractor trailers required different levels of extrication.
Multiple departments responded to the crash. New York State Police led the investigation and shut down the westbound lanes of the Thruway as that investigation unfolded.
