An 18-year-old from Elmira has been arrested on the city’s southside after being accused of live streaming himself holding a handgun.
According to the Elmira Police Department, Ryan Cox was arrested on January 30th after officers received a report of someone streaming themselves online while holding a gun. Upon arriving at the scene on Hudson St. and Harmon St., officers reportedly saw Cox, who then fled the scene.
During the foot chase, Cox allegedly threw the gun towards Gridley Place, but police eventually caught him and found a loaded Rock Island Armory .45 caliber handgun on Gridley Pl. Cox was charged with 2nd-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon and taken to the Elmira Police Department while waiting for his court appearance.
