A Chemung County Transit bus drove into a house near Elmira’s westside on Monday afternoon, causing an unknown number of injuries and damage to the property.
According to reports, the crash occurred on West Clinton St. near Euclid Ave. around 3:30 p.m. Photos from the scene showed the bus crashed into the side of the building and through a fence, as well as an SUV that was also damaged.
Emergency responders were seen loading at least one person onto a stretcher. The cause of the crash, the number of injuries, and the extent of damage to the house are not yet known.
