Ford recalls over 420,000 vehicles due to issue with backup camera

Ford has issued a recall for 426,000 vehicles due to an issue with the rear-view camera. The recall expands on a previous recall from 2021 and affects 2020 to 2023 model year Ford Explorers, Lincoln Corsairs, and Lincoln Aviators.

According to Ford, the 360-degree rear-view cameras in these vehicles may malfunction and display a blue screen while the driver is reversing. The company has linked at least 17 accidents to this issue, though no injuries have been reported. Additionally, Ford has received 2,100 warranty claims related to problems with the rear-view cameras.

To fix the issue, Ford advises vehicle owners to take their car to a dealership, where technicians will update the image processing module software. Owners who had their rear-view cameras fixed under the previous recall will need to return to the dealership for the new update.

To check if your vehicle is affected by this recall, visit nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter your VIN number.
