Jury selection began this week for the Auburn woman accused of murdering a Syracuse man at a city bar last year.
Shameek Copes, age 28, of Auburn was earlier charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
The shooting took place on March 15th in front of Swifty’s Tavern on Perrine Street.
The victim, John Wesley Smith III, was just 37 at the time of the murder.
Two others faced charges in the shooting. However, one of them, Adrian Agee, has already pleaded guilty.
Copes faces 25 years to life if found guilty.
