A bicyclist successfully fled police in the city of Ithaca during the early-morning hours on Sunday.
Police say around 1:45 a.m. officers tried to stop a bicyclist in the area of State and Plain streets.
The suspect on the bicycle was suspected of having a warrant and violated traffic law.
A pursuit ensued and the bicyclist got away. Despite a perimeter being established, police said it’s likely the suspect broke it before it was fully in place.
A short time later, Tompkins County 911 received a call from a resident who located a firearm between the window and screen of an apartment on West State Street.
It was a loaded .22 caliber revolver that had previously been reported stolen. The case remains under investigation and the suspect, who was not identified, but known by police remains at-large.
