Police say one person is in custody after an armed robbery at a convenience store in the city of Ithaca.
On Friday, December 30th around 7:05 p.m. the Tompkins County 911 Center received a call from the Dandy Mini Mart on Buffalo Street after employees reported that a person entered the store with an AR style rifle and pointed it at the cashier.
Officers responded to the scene and learned that the subject fled northbound from the convenience store. A short time later, deputies and police located a man who fit the description provided by employees.
A rifle with pistol grip and collapsable stock was found nearby, according to police.
The suspect was identified as Sean Reese, age 18, of Binghamton, who was charged with first-degree attempted robbery and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He was arraigned and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail on $100,000 bail. The charges will be answered at a later date and the investigation remains active.
