Waterloo could have a new police chief after meeting tonight

The village of Waterloo may have a new police chief by late-Monday.

The village board meets at the municipal building, and includes a motion to appoint a new chief.

Jason Godley retired in August after 22 years of service. He’s working as a school resource officer in the Waterloo Central School District.

Sgt. James Chechak has worked as interim chief since September 1st.

Village Administrator Don Northrup told the Finger Lakes Times that the Board has a lot of information to process and that the decision would solely be theirs.
