Rep. Joe Harding, Florida lawmaker supporting the “Don’t Say Gay” bill has resigned

Rep. Joe Harding has resigned from his position in Florida after it was announced he was indicted on charges of fraud.

The representative was a supporter of the “Don’t Say Gay” bill in Florida, and now faces charges for defrauding a federal coronavirus loan program, according to the Associated Press.

The letter was sent to House Speaker Paul Renner and explained that his reason for resigning was to focus on his trial that starts January 11, 2023.

Harding allegedly did or tried to get over $150,000 in pandemic aid from the Small Business Administration. In all he has six counts against him: two counts of wire fraud, two counts of money laundering, and two counts of making false statements.

He recently made a statement claiming he fully repaid the loan as well as cooperated with investigators.
