Intoxicated driver pulls away after deputies wake him up in middle of the road: Charged with felony DWI shortly after in Wayne County

One person faces felony charges after being found drunk and asleep behind the wheel by police.

Deputies said in a release that 47-year-old Paul Schenk Jr., of Ontario was charged with felony DWI, felony aggravated DWI, and other traffic violations.

The charges stem from an investigation into a traffic stop in the Town of Ontario where it is alleged that Schenk was located behind the wheel of a running vehicle parked in the northbound lane of Fisher Road.

Deputies said Schenk was asleep at the wheel and awoken by officers when they arrived. But when Schenk woke up, he shifted the vehicle into drive and veered into the southbound lane before again coming to rest in the road.

His BAC was determined to be 0.19%. The charges will be answered at a later date.
