CONCRETE JUNGLE: Starting the Postseason on the Right Foot (podcast)

Fall marches on as the Divisional Round of Postseason play has started in the MLB. The Yankees have jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the series over the Cleveland Guardians. Paul Russo and Kyle Evans break down the game and take a look at some newsworthy notes that came from the roster announcement that morning.

Gerrit Cole looked on point, tossing 6.1 innings of work. Paul and Kyle discuss his long-time success in the ALDS and what the outing meant in terms of his body of work from the past month. Josh Donaldson has proved to be a valuable piece in the lineup the last few weeks. However, another baserunning blunder took the headlines for him from another successful day at the plate. The guys talk about if anything can be done to right the ship for his baserunning or if he is just stuck in his ways.

Scott Effross looked to take the role of closer for the Postseason but was noticeably off the roster for this round and we later learned that Effross will need Tommy John Surgery. Paul and Kyle discuss the short- and long-term effects for the Yankees and Effross. The guys look ahead to the second game of the series and beyond, including how the weather could be a major factor in the series.
