Syracuse Mets drop series opener to SWB RailRiders

The Syracuse Mets fell to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, 6-1, in the series opener on Wednesday night at PNC Field.

Veteran left-hander Mike Montgomery started for Syracuse and surrendered four runs (three earned) on four hits over four innings while walking two and striking out two.

Stephen Nogosek and Josh Walker each allowed a run in relief. Yoan López, Philip Diehl, and Michael Otanez had scoreless outings.

J.T. Riddle drove in the Mets’ only run of the game with an RBI single in the top of the first inning. The offense struggled with runners in scoring position as they went 1-for-10 and left 10 runners on base.

The two teams will play a doubleheader on Thursday. The first pitch for game one is slated for 5:05 p.m.
