The Rochester Red Wings opened a six-game homestand on Tuesday night at Frontier Field and were blanked by the Toledo Mud Hens, 3-0.
Tommy Romero made his Red Wings debut, tossing 2 1/3 innings and allowing two runs on two hits while striking out three. Both of the runs he allowed came on back-to-back home runs in the third inning.
Matt Brill, Francisco Perez, and Curtis Taylor all had scoreless appearances out of the bullpen for Rochester, while Matt Cronin surrendered an unearned run.
The Red Wings could not get anything going on the offensive side of the ball as they had just four hits. John Nogowski extended his hitting streak to five games with a single, and Nick Banks snapped an 0-for-15 skid with a double.
Rochester will try to bounce back on Wednesday with Patrick Murphy on the mound. The first pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m.
