Happening this week: 203rd annual Steuben County Fair

The 203rd annual Steuben County Fair kicked off on Tuesday, with carnival rides starting on Wednesday, August 17.

The Steuben County Fair is the longest continuously running fair in the country, dating back to 1819.

Steuben was one of six counties to accept a stipend from New York State to sponsor county fairs in the early 19th century.

Fairs were held sporadically until 1853, when the Steuben County Agricultural Society brought the fair to its current location in the Town of Bath, according to WETM.

The 2022 fair runs from Tuesday, August 15 through Sunday, August 21.

It features plenty of fair foods, livestock shows, carnival rides and exhibits for all to enjoy.

Carnival rides and games open at 1 p.m. each day.

Grandstand events include a monster truck show, rodeo, truck pull and multiple demolition derbys throughout the week.
