Bread & Puppet Theater performs at Wells College on September 14

The Arts & Lecture Series of Wells College, in partnership with the Sustainability, Visual Arts, and Theatre programs, is delighted to announce that the wonderful Bread & Puppet Theater will visit our campus this Fall.

The Bread and Puppet Theater is an internationally celebrated company that champions a
visually rich, street-theater brand of performance art filled with music, dance and slapstick.
Believing that theater is a basic necessity like bread, the company frequently brings its work to
the streets for those who may not otherwise go to the theater. The company’s shows are
political and spectacular, with puppets often on stilts, wearing huge masks with expressive
faces, singing, dancing and playing music. On a rare cross-country tour this fall with
performances coast to coast, from New York to Seattle, Los Angeles to New Orleans, the iconic
political puppet theater company brings Our Domestic Resurrection Circus: Apocalypse Defiance
to over 50 cities and towns… including Wells College.

All are welcome to gather next to the Wells College boathouse on Cayuga Lake on Wednesday,
September 14, 6-7:30pm. Admission is free – bring a blanket to sit on! After the show Bread &
Puppet will serve its famous sourdough rye bread with aioli, and “Cheap Art” – books, posters,
postcards, pamphlets and banners from the Bread & Puppet Press – will be for sale.

For those driving: the boathouse can be found as “Aurora Farmer’s Market” on Google Maps, at
170 North Main St, Aurora NY, 13026. It’s recommended to come early, as adjacent parking will
be limited. More parking is available on campus, a ten minute walk up the hill at the athletic
center, and along the road in the town of Aurora, a 5-10 minute walk along Main St. A shuttle
from the parking lot for those requiring accommodations will be available.
