The New York Yankees made a couple of roster moves ahead of Tuesday’s Subway Series game against the New York Mets at Citi Field.
The team placed outfielder Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to 7/24) with left Achilles tendonitis.
In a corresponding move, the Yankees recalled outfielder Tim Locastro from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Manager Aaron Boone told reporters a few hours after the announcement that Stanton requested an MRI after waking up on Monday with soreness in his Achilles. “Hopefully it’s a short stint,” Boone said.
This is the second IL stint this season for Stanton, who was out from late May to early June with a right calf strain. He has 24 home runs and 61 RBIs in 80 games this year.
