Finger Lakes Railway train overturns: Engineer treated at local hospital

  • Staff Report

One person was taken to the hospital after a Finger Lakes Railway locomotive overturned in Himrod, New York.

The incident happened along the west side of Seneca Lake, according to John Kucko, who documented it on his Facebook Page.

The engineer was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries. The train itself, is one that makes a recurring run to the salt facility in Watkins Glen.

The locomotive was the only overturned unit in the incident, as no rail cars were assembled. Fuel was safely extracted from the engine and the scene was closed off by first responders.
