Get ready for a hot one.

The National Weather Service has activated heat advisories for most of the Finger Lakes, Central New York, and Southern Tier.

What does that mean? When does it end?

The heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Those heading outside should drink plenty of fluids and limit outdoor time if they have certain medical conditions.

High temperatures will be in the low to mid 90s. It will feel like 100 or more outside with humidity factored in. Overnight temperatures will drop into the 70s, but that won’t be the end of the heat. After a couple days in the mid to upper 80s, temperatures will again flirt with, or pass 90 degrees over the weekend.

However, Upstate New York isn’t alone in feeling the heat. There are plenty of other places around the globe who will be feeling some of the hottest weather of the year today.
