Rochester Red Wings blank IronPigs in series finale

The Rochester Red Wings blanked the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 2-0, in 10 innings on Sunday evening at Coca-Cola Park. With the victory, the two teams split the six-game series. Rochester improved to 5-2 in extra-inning games this season.

Logan Verrett started on the mound for Rochester and tossed seven shutout innings while allowing just three hits and striking out four.

After no runs were scored through the first nine innings, the Red Wings finally plated the first run of the game in the top of the 10th. Adrian Sanchez grounded one through the middle for an RBI single. Then, Josh Palacios added an insurance run with an RBI double to right. Palacios collected three of the team’s 11 hits. Matt Cronin retired the IronPigs in order in the bottom of the frame to secure the victory.
