The Lyons Central School District Board of Education has appointed Rhonda Underhill as the next Assistant Superintendent for Instruction

Mrs. Underhill will join the Lyons Central School District with an anticipated start date of July 15, 2022. Mrs. Underhill will be transitioning to her new role from her current position as Principal for Perkins Elementary School in Newark Central Schools. Mrs. Underhill comes to us with 19 years of experience in education, including roles as principal, instructional coach, and classroom teacher, including experience as a special education teacher.

Mrs. Underhill received a Bachelor of Science degree in Unified Elementary/Special Education from Keuka College, a Master of Science in Education from Elmira College, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from The College at Brockport.

Mrs. Underhill expressed her thoughts with the following statement: “I am excited for the opportunity to join the Lyons team as your Assistant Superintendent for Instruction. As a new Newark resident and a transplant from the Southern Tier, I spent most of my educational experience in small, rural schools in various roles – student, special education teacher, sixth grade teacher, first grade teacher, summer school principal, instructional coach, assistant principal, principal, and parent. I am eager to use my experiences as I work alongside our staff to create systems to align curriculum, provide engaging and targeted instruction through the intentional use of assessments to maximize achievement for all of our students. Through our collaborative efforts, I look forward to continuing to seek ways to meet all learners where they are for the growth and success of our entire Lyons community.”
