Southern Cayuga High School stages mock DWI drill ahead of “100 deadliest days”

Southern Cayuga High School students recently got an up-close look at a fatal DWI investigation.

School officials partnered with the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department, local fire departments, and EMS squads to stage a mock DWI crash scene at the school. Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck praised the organizers for making the drill so realistic.

Deputy Brandon Androsko led the excercise, taking the student actor offender through questioning, field sobriety testing, and eventually, arrest.

The period between Memorial Day and Labor Day is known as the 100 Deadliest Days for young drivers.
