The Wellsville Lions and the Waterloo Indians squared off to decide who gets to represent Class B for Section V in the Far West Regional. The Lions captured the Class B2 title while the Indians captured the B1 crown. The Lions were able to come out victorious by a score of 18-0.
The Wellsville bats were alive all night, plating three runs in the opening frame. The Lions were able to carry that momentum into the third inning, where they scored 14 runs on 10 hits.
Sophomore Makenzie Cowburn threw 5 scoreless innings for the Lions that featured 11 strikeouts. Nadya Clingerman and Makayla Jensen split pitching duties for the Indians, both pitching two innings.
The Indians conclude their season at 16-8. Wellsville will play the Section VI representative on Saturday at Grand Valley HS.
