Kia and Hyundai recall
These two brands are recalling a small number of vehicles.
Kia is recalling 30 of their Rios and Hyundai 2 of their Accents.
The years affected are 2021-2022.
The alert is caused by the steering column being put together improperly which could lead to an accident.
An article by Auto Blog says “An improperly tightened lower steering column U-joint bolt may loosen over time resulting in a loss of steering. If the steering column and steering rack are disconnected during vehicle operation, the driver will lose steering control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.”.
One way to tell if this is affecting your car is to listen for a rattling noise from the column while you’re driving.
The noise could be a sign that a bolt is loosening.
Owners will be notified of repair services by July.
