The Rochester Americans fell to the Utica Comets, 6-3, on Tuesday night at the Adirondack Bank Center in Game 1 of the best-of-five North Division semifinal series.
Rochester led 2-0 after the first period, but after that, it was all Utica. The Amerks were outscored 6-1 and outshot 35-13 over the final two periods.
Arttu Ruotsalainen stayed red-hot and scored twice for Rochester. JJ Peterka netted his first career postseason goal and Aaron Dell stopped 34-of-40 shots.
A.J. Greer notched two goals for Utica while Tyce Thompson, Robbie Russo, Ryan Schmelzer, and Joe Gambardella also tallied. Nico Daws turned aside 19-of-22 shots.
Rochester finished 1-for-1 on the power play and 0-for-1 on the penalty kill.
