Social Security and SSDI payment schedule
The Social Security Administration (SSA) runs programs that millions depend on. Although they sound similar, each has its own specific set of eligibility requirements. Read more about it here.
Social Security and SSDI recipients are sent their benefits on the same schedule. When you will receive your check depends on your birthday:
- birth date between 1st-10th: paid on the second Wednesday of each month
- between 11th-20th: paid on the third Wednesday of each month
- 21st-31st: paid on the fourth Wednesday of each month
This month, those dates land on May 11, May 18, and May 25.
In May, SSI benefits won’t be distributed. The payment schedule has been affected. Typically benefits would be sent out on May 1, but it landed on a Sunday.
When the first week of a month falls on a weekend, benefits are issued the Friday before. That means the May benefit was paid out on April 29.
The next SSI payment will be on June 1.
