The Buffalo Sabres ended the 2021-22 regular season on a positive note as they defeated the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-2, in overtime on Friday night at KeyBank Center.
Buffalo trailed 1-0 after the second period and 2-1 late in the third, but found a way to tie the game and send it to overtime.
Casey Mittelstadt netted the game-winner while Owen Power and Tage Thompson also scored. Dustin Tokarski turned aside 19-of-21 shots.
Dominik Kubalik and Dylan Strome found the back of the net for Chicago while Collin Delia stopped 33-of-36 shots.
Buffalo went 0-for-3 on the power play and a perfect 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
The Sabres finished the season with a 32-39-11 record to go along with 75 points.
