This past January, the Seneca Falls Board of Education sought nominations to name the Board/Training Room within the new Operations Center at 2 Butler Ave. There were 24 submissions and 9 different individuals nominated. Of those 24 submissions, Mr. Robert McKeveny overwhelming received the greatest number of nominations.
On April 27th, the Board approved the naming of the Board/Training Room as the Robert McKeveny Board/Training Room. Mr. McKeveny gave nearly 40 years of his life to public education and approximately 26 of those years to the Seneca Falls CSD. Mr. McKeveny served as the principal of Frank Knight Elementary and Seneca Falls Middle School, before finishing his career as the Superintendent of Schools, which he served as for 11 years.
Mr. McKeveny was the visionary behind the new Operations Center and specifically the large Board/Training Room. He saw professional development and the need to support and grow staff as a priority. He was also a leader and proponent of bringing people to collaborate for the benefit of the individual, school district, and broader community. The district lacked a space to make this level of professional development and collaboration occur, but that is no longer an issue with this new space, thanks to the vision of Mr. McKeveny. This new space has been used almost daily since the opening in September of 2021.
The Seneca Falls Board of Education would like to invite members of the District and Community to a dedication ceremony on May 11th at 6:30 PM. The ceremony will be held at the new Operations Center located at 2 Butler Ave. in the Robert McKeveny Board/Training Room.
