The American Hockey League announced Wednesday that Rochester Americans forwards JJ Peterka and Jack Quinn have been named to the 2021-22 AHL All-Rookie Team.
Peterka, who was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2020 NHL Draft, leads all AHL rookies with 64 points (25 goals, 39 assists) in 69 games for Rochester this season. Peterka is the first Amerks rookie to reach the 60-point mark since Thomas Vanek had 68 points (42 goals, 26 assists) in 74 games during the 2004-05 season.
Quinn, who was also drafted by the Sabres in the 2020 NHL Draft, has compiled 25 goals and 34 assists for 59 points in just 44 games with Rochester this season. Quinn’s 1.34 points-per-game average ranks third in the league.
Peterka and Quinn each made their NHL debuts with Buffalo this season. Peterka appeared in two games, but did not record a point. Quinn also played in two games and scored a goal and picked up an assist.
Peterka and Quinn are the first pair of Amerks rookies taken from the same Draft class (2020) to record 50 or more points in the same season since Scott Thomas and Doug MacDonald (1989) did so in 1992-93.
