Yankees shut out Blue Jays, 3-0

The Yankees shut out the Blue Jays, 3-0, in the series finale and split the four-game series.

Luis Severino made his second start of the season and looked just like the old Severino. He tossed five shutout innings and allowed just two hits while striking out six and walking three.

Jose Trevino drove in two of the Yankees three runs with RBI singles in the third and fifth inning.

The Yankees added an insurance run in the eighth. Aaron Judge doubled and then later scored on Giancarlo Stanton’s groundout to third.

The bullpen did a very good job, except for Aroldis Chapman. He walked three batters in the ninth and did not record an out. Michael King came into a bases-loaded, no-out jam and recorded three outs to earn his first career save. Lucas Luetge (1.0 IP), Miguel Castro (0.2 IP), Clay Holmes (0.2 IP), Chad Green (0.2 IP) each had scoreless appearances.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa picked up his first multi-hit game with the Yankees, finishing 3-for-3.

The Yankees will head to Baltimore to begin a three-game series with the Orioles on Friday night. Jordan Montgomery will make his second start of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
