INSIDE THE FLX: Maureen Ballatori of Metro Collective talks about the shared work space revolution and building a community for those who no longer go to the office (podcast)

In this episode, we talk with Maureen Ballatori of Metro Collective, an online community for those who use shared work spaces, known as coworking.

The idea began as a way for small startups or entrepreneurs to share the cost of things like copiers and office furniture. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, coworking has become popular with those who don’t have an appropriate place to work at home.

What coworkers miss is the sense of camaraderie that comes from seeing your fellow workers in the office every day. That’s where Metro Collective comes in. The company oversees shared work spaces throughout the Finger Lakes and greater Rochester and provides resources and a community for those who share work spaces. Available spaces range from a desk and chair to a fully developed commercial kitchen to help food producers ramp up their production to commercial levels. Amenities include printer/copier access, high speed internet, a mailing address and a place to take private phone calls.

Maureen is also the founder of 29 Design Studio, which helps promote and market food, beverage and agriculture brands.
