The six-seeded Gananda Blue Panthers tried to pull off their third upset of the tournament, but fell just short to the one-seeded Pavilion Golden Gophers, 46-42, in the Section V Class C2 championship on Saturday afternoon at Rush-Henrietta High School.
The Golden Gophers have now won two sectional titles in the last three years.
Gananda was down two with just over seven seconds remaining in the game and had a chance to tie the game or take the lead, but Kaylee Marvin missed an off balance three pointer with just over a second left as Pavilion held on for the victory.
Pavilion will face York in the NYS Far West Sub-Regional next week.
