Tompkins County moves forward with public and mental health departments merger

The merger between the Tompkins County Public Health Department and Mental Health Department is moving forward as planned with current Public Health Director Frank Kuppa heading the new combined department.

The merger has been in the works since 2019 but was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Ithaca Voice.

The initial timeline for the merger was 18 months, but now Kruppa says some changes will be made by the end of 2022, with the full merger taking place over the next three to five years.
