Many across the region are due for their COVID-19 booster shots, but how does it mix with alcohol, and will you be able to drink if you receive the booster?
Rochester Regional Health’s Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Emil Lesho sat down with WHEC to discuss the claim that alcohol and boosters don’t mix.
“It’s not 100% accurate. It’s not necessarily true,” said Lesho. “If there’s a choice between not getting your booster because you want to have a cocktail, definitely get the booster.”
Lesho said drinking in moderation is not an issue, but notes heavy alcohol consumption suppresses your immune system, making you more susceptible to contracting a virus, including COVID-19.
Still, getting boosted and consuming alcohol in moderation shouldn’t be a problem.
