Upwards of 100 displaced after fire at motel in Horseheads

One person was injured and dozens were displaced after a fire at the America’s Best Value Inn located in Horseheads.

A fire broke out just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Several departments were called to the blaze, and according to officials, one person ran down from their room- after suffering minor burns.

The fire started in one room and caused significant damage to the surrounding area, according to fire officials.

The motel was shut down and the Village of Hogsheads Code Department and Chemung County Health Department were investigating. Upwards of 100 people were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
