State police arrested a pair of Watkins Glen residents on perjury charges after a lengthy investigation into official misconduct in Watkins Glen.
Troopers say Brandon Matthews, 36, who previously served as officer in charge in Watkins Glen, as well as Danielle Matthews, 38, also of Watkins Glen were arrested on an array of charges.
Brandon was charged with eight counts of perjury and one count of official misconduct. Danielle was charged with three total counts of perjury.
Troopers say Yates County District Attorney has been brought in as special prosecutor in the case.
Both individuals are awaiting arraignment on the charges.
The Matthews were locked in a legal battle with Watkins Glen Mayor Luke Leszyk. Most recently, the lawsuit they had against the mayor had been dismissed.
