State police provided an update on a fatal crash that happened in Bridgeport claiming the life of a Mattydale man.
On Friday around 5 p.m. troopers responded to a two-car head-on crash on Route 31 west of Tuttle Road in Cicero.
Troopers say an SUV operated by Janet Nunez, 64, of Bridgeport was traveling east on Route 31 when she crossed the center line into the westbound lane – striking a passenger car head-on that was traveling west.
The driver, identified as 27-year-old Joshua Heffernan was transported to Upstate University Hospital where he died.
Nunez was transported to Upstate University Hospital with severe internal injuries. However, she was listed in stable condition, according to troopers.
Police say anyone who was in the area and witnessed the crash should call Investigator Jeffrey Duck at 315-455-2922.
State Police were assisted at the scene by the Cicero Police Department, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Bridgeport Fire Department, Minoa Ambulance, and NAVAC ambulance.
