CVS has announced they plan to close 900 of their stores over a span of three years.
The plan is to shut 300 per year.
One of the reasons is to close locations where multiple exist in one place.
This means if you live near multiple CVS locations, some may be closing.
Things like shifts in populations, local market dynamics, and density of stores influence their decisions.
The closures will start in spring of 2022.
Workers impacted by their stores closing will be offered new roles at other stores.
CVS is aiming to keep the right type of stores in locations with customers that need them.
There are almost 10,000 locations in the United States with the most in California. There are 1,176 stores in total in the state.
300,000 employees work for CVS with 40,000 physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and nurse practitioners.
