Dustin Tokarski made a career-high 45 saves, including 19 in the third period, as the Buffalo Sabres defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 on Tuesday at PPG Paints Arena.
The Penguins dominated the third period, outshooting the Sabres 20-3 and Tokarski was there to shut the door, especially late.
Colin Miller and Kyle Okposo scored for Buffalo. Mller leads Sabres defensemen with nine points (2+7).
Jake Guentzel was Pittsburgh’s goal scorer. Tristan Jarry stopped 17 shots.
Tokarski’s pervious high was 44 saves, set last season on April 1 against the Rangers.
Buffalo’s power play finished 0-for-5 and the penalty kill was 3-for-4 on the night.
