Eric Smith will not be released from prison.
The now 41-year-old was scheduled to be released from prison after serving a lengthy prison term for killing 4-year-old Derrick Robie.
He had been granted parole in October, but due to not having an approved residence – Smith could not be released.
Due to his sentencing terms – he will be monitored by the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision for the rest of his life. He was 13 at the time of the murder in 1993.
Smith needs to present a plan for life after prison, which includes potential employment and a residence.
