Nursing homes change rules for COVID-19, visiting is easier as holidays approach

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid have lifted a lot of the restrictions put into place during the pandemic for visiting.

Now, at many nursing homes visits will be allowed at all times. Visitors aren’t limited and neither are how many times they choose to visit.

COVID-19 screening while checking in is still required, but vaccinations are making visitation possible. If the patient or visitor is unvaccinated then they need to wear a mask.

Social distancing still needs to be maintained as it gets busier with more visitors.

If a nursing home is located in a substantial or high risk area then masks and physical distance will be enforced.

All counties were in the high category Monday.
