The great thing about post-season play in any sport is the thrilling games that come along the way, games that prove you can never script sports. On Saturday afternoon, the Victor girls volleyball team had their own thrilling chapter in sectional play as they took home the Class AA crown in Section V.

Penfield took home the first set 25-18, with Victor battling back in the second and third sets securing 25-23 and 25-20 wins in the sets. With a sectional title in sight, Penfield fought back in the fourth set and took the win 25-20.

The fifth and deciding set started off slow for Victor, down 6-4 to Penfield before a delay in the action due to an outside issue inside the facility at the Gates Chili High School Gym. Action resumed 15 minutes later and the teams would go back and forth in the fifth set, with neither team giving way to the other. Extra play would be needed to decide the champion, however that would be short lived. Victor took back-to-back points and ended the match by taking a 27-25 win, and in the process winning the Class AA title.
Victor will now move on to play in regional round action in state play on Friday. The site, opponent, and start time are to be determined.
